Bournemouth Marathon Festival FAQs  

  1. How can I tell if my entry is approved?

  2. Are entries open for the Bournemouth Marathon Festival 2015?
    Standard marathon entries have now closed, however charity marathon entries are still available. Standard entries for the half marathon, 10k, 5k and junior races are still open.
     
  3. Can I transfer my place to another runner wanting to do the same race?
    Yes, transfers for the bournemouth marathon festival are open until Sunday 16th August 2015 at 5pm or until course capacity for the transferred race is reached. You can transfer your place to another runner looking to run in the same race as you entered. You will need to find the runner to transfer your place to, as event organisers do not manage list of transferring runners. More information can be found here
     
  4. Can I transfer my place to another race (eg marathon to half)

  5. When will I receive my running number? 
    All runners in the Marathon and Half Marathon who have registered with a UK or European address will receive their running number with embedded timing chip in the post no later than Wednesday 30th September. 

    All runners in the Marathon and Half Marathon who have registered with an address outside of Europe will be required to collect their race pack from the BMF Hub on Saturday 3rd October or Sunday 4th October 2015.

    All runners in the 10K, 5K, 2K & 1.5K who have registered with a UK or European address and entered before Wednesday 9th September 2016 will receive their running number with embedded timing chip in the post no later than Wednesday 30th September. 

    All runners in the 10K, 5K, 2K & 1.5K who have registered with an address outside of Europe OR entered after Wednesday 9th September will be required to collect their race pack from the BMF Hub on Saturday 3rd October or Sunday 4th October 2015.

     
  6. I live in the UK or Europe and have not received my race number by the end of September, what do I do?
    Don't worry! If you do not receive your number you can collect a replacement from the BMF Help Desk over event weekend. The BMF Help Desk is open on both Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th. If you are running in the marathon or half marathon then there is also the facility to collect a replacement race number from the start area on the morning of the event. 
     
  7. When can I download my race instructions and bus tickets?
    You can download your final race instructions and bus tickets from the Monday before race weekend from your my details account. 
     
  8. I am injured or I want to withdraw/transfer my place, what do I do? 
    Just log into your account and press the withdrawal link under your entry. Entry fees are non-refundable. Entries can't be transferred to a future event. Click here for more information.  
     
  9. I can't remember my password
    If you have forgotten your password please click here and use the reset password function on the log in page. 
     
  10. When will I receive my results?
    A full list of results will be published online, on the results page of the event website, following the races. Full and final results will also be made available to relevant parties for the purposes of verification for other events or for the updating of ranking systems. Results from previous Bournemouth Marathon Festival events are available to view here
     
     
  11. Is there a cut-off time for the marathon/half marathon?
    Yes, the events operate a strict maximum cut off time of 6 hours 30 minutes for the full marathon and 3 hours 15 minutes for the half marathon. The events are serious athletics endurance races which require a large amount of appropriate training and preparation in order to complete safely. Therefore we strongly discourage participants who do not intend to complete the course within these time limits. Any runner who does not complete the course within the time limit will not be permitted to complete the race and will not receive a result. A sweeper bus follows the race at 6 hour 30 minute pace for the full and 3 hour 15 minute pace for the half and if you are passed by the sweep bus at any point and for any reason, you will be asked to get onto the bus which will transport you back to the finish area at the earliest possible opportunity. If you decide not to get onto the sweep bus, your running number is recorded and you are removed from the race, from this point onwards you will be continuing independently of the event and at your own risk. You will be recorded as a DNF within the results of the event.
     
  12. Is there a cut-off time for the 10K and 5K races?
    Yes, the cut off time for the 10K race is 1 hour 45 minutes and the cut off time for the 5K race is 1 hour.  A sweeper bus follows the back of the race at this pace and if you are passed by the sweep bus at any point and for any reason, you will be asked to get onto the bus which will transport you back to the finish area at the earliest possible opportunity. If you decide not to get onto the sweep bus, your running number is recorded and you are removed from the race, from this point onwards you will be continuing independently of the event and at your own risk. You will be recorded as a DNF within the results of the event.
     
  13. Is there a cut-off time for the 1.5K and 2K races?
    Yes, the cut off time for the 1.5K race is 25 minutes and the cut off time for the 2K race is 40 minutes.
     
  14. I did not finish, can I still get a finishers t-shirt and finishers goodybag?
    Sorry no, medals and finisher's goodybags are a mark of achievement of finishing the race so it would not be fair to those that ran the full distance.
     
  15. Can I take part using a wheelchair or handbike?
    Yes. The Bournemouth Marathon Festival is an inclusive festival of running and we welcome entries from wheelchair and handbike users across all of our races. There are no separate wheelchair or handbike races, anyone entering the events will be included within the mass field for their respective race.

    Anyone taking part in a wheelchair or handbike for the Marathon, Half Marathon or 10K races must be self propelled for the enter race, therefore, participants in electric wheelchairs and individuals being pushed by a friend/colleague are not permitted on the course.

    We will do everything that we can to accommodate wheelchair and handbike users but there are also time limits which all entrants must stay within. Any entrants who are predicted to complete the course significantly ahead of the elite field can unfortunately not be accommodated on the course as the event operates on roads which are closed for a limited period of time and would not provide a safe route to anyone significantly ahead of the elite field. There are also maximum time limits for all races which are outlined above. These times are designed to be as inclusive as possible but anyone entering an event must be able to stay within the time limit as key course facilities such as closed roads, hydration stations and toilets cannot remain in place indefinitely.

    As event organisers we will ensure that we can accept entrants from wheelchair and handbike users across all events wherever possible but there may be some circumstances in which this isn't possible.   16. When will I receive my merchandise?
    Merchandise items will be delivered within 7-10 working days of your order. Overseas deliveries may take up to 6-8 weeks. Bus tickets will be downloadable from your my details account within two weeks of the race. 
     
  17. How do I return my merchandise?
    If for any reason you are not satisfied with your merchandise you may return it within 15 days for exchange or refund providing the goods are unused and have all original tags. We are unable to accept back any goods that have been worn or laundered, unless they are faulty. Postage charged at the time of sale is non-refundable. Any return postage is covered by the customer.

    Please send returned goods to: KAL Couriers Ltd, Leith Business Centre, 4 Marine Esplanade, Edinburgh, EH6 7LU. Please include a short note stating why you are returning the item. If you want a different size please include your return address.

  18. Can I update my details (address, password etc)?
    You can update your address and password by logging in to my details and clicking the 'contact info' button. Please note: you must have the correct predicted time and address details in your my details account by Sunday 16th August 2015. After this date neither your predicted time nor address can be updated, no exceptions. Click here for more info on your my details account.
     
  19. Can I wear my mp3 player? 
    Mp3 players or other devices plugged into the ear are banned whilst running for reasons of health & safety, both yours and other competitors. When you wear such a device you are unable to hear other competitors, cars, bicycles or marshals instructions.
     
  20. How do I purchase a bus ticket?
    Bus tickets will be available to purchase from our online shop in due course.  You will be able to download and print your bus ticket from your my details account from Monday 21st September, 2015. Please note that there may be a parking fee payable at the car park - this is not covered by your bus ticket. 
     
  21. Can you give me some information about travel options on race day

  22. Where are the hydration (water/energy) stations on course?
    Click here to view where the hydration stations are for the marathon and half marathon? There will be High5 energy gels at the energy stations.  There will not be energy drinks. 
     
  23. Are there pacers/pace setters at this event?
    No. There are no pacers at this event.
     
  24. When will I receive my iTaB Medal insert order?
    My Sporting Times who produce the iTaB Medal Insert for us and dispatch time is three weeks. If you have not received yours within 3 weeks of race weekend please complete the contact form below.
     
  25. I'd like to enter my child in to one of the junior races - how do I do this?
    What you need to do is create a my details account for your child and enter them in the same way that you would enter yourself. If you wish to use your email address, you can do, however you would need to make sure that the password is different to your own account. If you are seeing 'entries closed' next to the junior race option, it will be because you're logged into your own account.
     
  26. Can I take my dog on the shuttle bus?
    No, only guide dogs are allowed on the shuttle buses. 
     
  27. What size of t-shirt should I choose?
    A guide to the size of our finishers t-shirts can be found here. Please note that we pre-order t-shirts based on the size that you chose when you entered and is printed on your race number - please ensure that this is the size that you collect when passing through the finish funnels.
     
  28. Does my child need their own bus ticket?
    Bus tickets are priced per person. If your child is an infant and needs to sit on your knee, then they do not require their own ticket.  However, if your child requires their own seat, then a ticket must be purchased for them.
